Welcome to the Liverpool John Moores University Virtual Campus. The virtual campus provides a multitude of services and innovative features which allows the University to be at the forefront in their use of technology to provide real benefits to students, academics and administrative staff. The virtual campus includes lecturing facilities, an information centre, a research facility, a student mall, meetings rooms, library and much more.

The virtual campus allows the delivery of virtual lectures to a potential worldwide audience. By utilising VOIP technology (Voice over Internet Protocol) lecturers can talk to their audience and indeed be questioned by their audience. This technology can be utilised in a number of ways to provide an effective tool for distance learning, virtual conferences, collaborative meetings.

A student centred approach is at the heart of the design for the virtual campus. The campus replicates many of the functions provided by the University to current students but in an innovative and more accessible format.

The virtual library provides students with the facility to view LJMU book catalogues, on-line journals and their own library account for renewals etc. Guides, Information leaflets can be downloaded by students from within the virtual library

The student mall is the “centrepiece” for the provision of a variety of student services. These will include student welfare advice, the student union, chaplaincy, shop (to provide virtual LJMU merchandise such as clothing). This is where students can meet in the ample surroundings and talk using either text or voice communications (VOIP).
