Visitor Information

From coast to countryside, from sport to music, Merseyside can offer conference visitors a unique package. Liverpool, at the heart of Merseyside is one of a handful of truly world famous cities, with a reputation across the globe.

The cities galleries house more collections of national significance than any other outside London. There's something to suit all tastes from the ultra modern Tate Liverpool to the stunning collections at the Walker Art Gallery. The fascinating work of the museum and gallery conservators can be seen at the award winning Conservation Centre.

Liverpool is bidding to become European Capital of Culture in 2008 and music is very much a part of that culture - classical at the Royal Philharmonic, contemporary in venues such as the Cavern and dance at Cream. Theatrical performances can once again be seen at the newly restored Liverpool Playhouse where many a household name made their debut. Innovative theatre is staged at the Everyman, whilst ballet, opera and musicals can be seen at the largest two-tier theatre in the UK, the Empire.

The Beatles are probably the most famous group the world has ever known. The Beatles Story exhibition is not to be missed - it provides a fascinating insight into the lives of four ordinary lads from Liverpool who are now part of out popular culture. Groups can go on a Magical Mystery Tour and go on a two hour journey around the city region looking at the Fab Four's old haunts, stopping off at the famous Cavern Club where the band rose to fame.

 Sports fans are spoilt for choice with two Premier football teams, Liverpool and Everton, which both offer stadium tours. Aintree racecourse hosts the most famous horse race in the World - the Martell Grand National. Delegates can take a look behind the scenes in their very own visitors centre. For those delegates who want to 'tee off', Merseyside has over 40 golf courses, including 7 of championship status such a Royal Birkdale and Royal Liverpool.

If this is your first visit to the UK, Liverpool is well placed to stage tours to other UK locations, being only 1 hour away from the Lake District, 3 hours from London and 3 hours from Glasgow and Edinburgh.
